Laramie, Wyoming Territory, 1888

Alone in the world after his parents died of typhus, Pierce Monroe decides to sell the small family farm in Kansas and to travel to Laramie, Wyoming where his older brother Bill is sheriff.
Bill is not exactly happy to see his younger brother. Outlaws are plaguing his county and Bill has no time to take care of a naive, inexperienced country boy. They strike a deal and Pierce goes to manage the ranch that Bill has acquired by chance and is not interested in.
A lot of unsavory characters are holed up at the ranch and Pierce seems unprepared to deal with them all. Is he going to give up and run away or will he succeed to overcome all the difficulties? Will the younger brother surprise the sheriff with his fortitude and courage and win the bet and the heart of the woman he wants to marry?

Historical Note - Located on Ivinson Street, Kuster Hotel was built in 1869, by the Dawson brothers costing $5,000 at the time. It is the oldest stone building in Laramie. At the beginning it served as a hotel for traveling cowboys and railroad workers and also as a depot for the Fort Collins and Walden stage line, and later on as a bus depot. The hotel had twenty-six rooms and a restaurant on the first floor. The original building had larger windows with cornices and lintels over them, and arches over the entrance. These architectural details have been lost to later remodeling, in late 1920s, when simpler lines were preferred for the front of the building.
