A Story by Micaela Pura and Murray Pura
Other fathers are going to war but young Kitt Burns sees no reason why her father should have to join them. The two of them live in another country and she doesn't believe the American Civil War is their fight. But her father has his own reasons for bearing arms on behalf of the Union and he enlists and travels south, living Kitt in the care of an uncle and aunt. He promises before God that he will return to her. But as the war goes on and on and casualties mount, Kitt fears it's the one promise that her father will never be able to keep.
