Dexter is a delivery guy with hidden Daddy tendencies. Always the fun uncle, helpful neighbor, and all-around boy scout. During the months of November and December, he wears a Santa hat and leaves candy canes with packages to spread cheer but he doesn’t celebrate the holidays himself. It's just no fun to decorate when you’re all alone.

Avery bought a gift shop downtown as a way to sell the crafts he loves to make and meet tourists looking to part with their cash. Unfortunately, the harsh winter has slowed down tourism and the locals are getting comfortable shopping at the big box online stores. Every time that hot delivery guy stops by with a box, Avery cringes. But he’s not innocent either. His mom loves sending him gifts, so that hot delivery driver comes to his house at least a few times a week. There are also some specialty Little items he can’t get in his small town, so he’s forced to order online too.

Dexter has noticed the toys inside the small bungalow he delivers to, but he’s pretty sure the guy lives alone and doesn’t have kids. What he does have is a ridiculously heavy iron gate that’s a PITA to open and an uneven walkway that Dexter almost trips on every time he’s there.

When Dex has a late afternoon delivery for Avery and sees him making snow angels in his yard, he stops to admire how cute and sweet he is, despite his terrible walkway. But the boy’s not wearing a hat or gloves and his lips are turning blue. He encourages Avery to go inside but the power is out and so is the heat. Avery says he’s not cold anymore, which means Dex only has one option for warming him up.
