Boxed Set containing books 1-3 in the Pinkerton Matchmakers series:
Book 1: The Pinkerton Matchmaker
Pairing prospective lady Pinkerton detectives with rough and ready agents? What could possibly go wrong?
Head of the Denver Pinkerton office, Archie Gordon, has been tasked with hiring female agents. The problem? They need to be trained by existing agents while solving cases. Alone and unchaperoned. In 1871.
The solution? Have each pair marry temporarily, for the duration of the case. If Archie can convince his reluctant agents and the even more reluctant women to agree, that is.
One thing is certain, it won't be dull. And the couples might even find love on the road to adventure. If they don't kill each other first.
Book 2: An Agent for Lucy
Lucy Haskell is returning home to Denver after four years living abroad in China. She's eager to see everything that has changed in her absence and to start the next chapter of her life. When her dear friend and traveling companion, Delphine Collins, goes missing, Lucy realizes she's in a unique position to help. She decides to apply to become a Pinkerton agent, offering her familiarity with the culture to help search for Delphine in Chinatown.
Jed Green isn't sure what he thinks about ladies joining the agency. From personal experience, Jed knows it's dangerous work, and he can't imagine putting a woman in such a tenuous situation. When he's asked to train a new female agent, he reluctantly agrees. But when he's asked to marry her for propriety's sake? That's another thing altogether how utterly preposterous!
Before Jed and Lucy can concentrate on their case, they must discover if they can work together. However, resolving their surprising feelings for each other, so they can focus on their dangerous task, is another thing altogether.
Book 3: An Agent for Wilhelmina
Wilhelmina Cutler had wanted to be a Pinkerton agent ever since she moved in with her aunt and uncle, who was an agent himself. Nows her chance. They are hiring women at the Denver Pinkerton Detective Agency. Already trained in most of the skills needed, Mina is confident she can handle any case they assign her.
Reece Galway is a veteran agent who has worked from the Denver office since the end of the Civil War. When his boss tells him his future employment hinges on marrying a woman aspiring to be an agent, he nearly quits. Hes never had a partner and doesnt want one, especially some rookie woman who knows nothing about how to be a detective.
And theres something about his new wife. She seems to attract danger yet is able to stave it off. Shes stiff, overly polite, and sometimes rather sarcastic. And she doesnt like his attitude.
Heading to San Francisco to solve an insurance fraud case, Reece and Mina butt heads. Can they work together to solve the case, or will their enmity make it impossible? Will this marriage continue once they are back in Denver or will either one demand an annulment?
