Dyna Malloy and her mother Wendy are two of the few females in the Las Vegas area who run and maintain a working horse ranch, Mesa Malloy. In keeping with her father and grandfather's tradition, they continue to train and sell saddle broncs to the rodeo. And rodeo is a big deal in Las Vegas.
But one particular gelding, named Domino because of his unusual black and white spots, is causing Dyna a lot of grief. He's still got a touch of wild in him. So Wendy, a widow now, calls in someone her friend, Edwin Penstone, the man's she's been dating for several years, has recommended. Dyna has never cared for Edwin but he's good to her mother and he has money of his own so she'd knows he's not after what little they have. She agrees to meet with Rico Knight, only because she knows the infamous Knight brothers and their wives. She's used their Knight Agency Investigations, which deals in anything that goes wrong in the rodeo, and knows they are trustworthy and dedicated. However, she's never met their younger cousin, Rico. Rico lives in Texas but travels the rodeo circuit, too. He's a renowned horse trainer and comes highly recommended.
Rico shows up, in it for the long haul. Once he sees the beautiful gelding, he knows his job is going to be hard. Not only because of the conflicted gelding but mostly because Dyna Malloy doesn't seem to like Rico at all. Even if she is attracted to him.
But when things start happening at the ranch - an explosion, break-in, equipment tapered with and threatening phone calls, Rico realizes like him or not, Dyna needs his help. And his protection. Someone is stalking her.
