After a routine domestic violence call ends in the gruesome death of her partner, and she is taken hostage and tortured, Sergeant Tawny Westfall can’t get past the crucial mistakes she made that fateful day. Paralyzed by fear, she spends the next few years of her career as a desk sergeant in the Laguna Beach Police Department. When the new Chief of Police, Justice McQuaid, recruits her to be part of a close-knit group to have his back while investigating a domestic terror threat, Tawny finds herself in the field. And once again, she’s nearly killed by the deranged son of the domestic terrorist who had planned to overthrow the government.

But she’s tough. She survives. And when an old friend of hers reports that women are disappearing and are dying of drug overdoses in a women’s prison and subsequently dies herself from a drug overdose, Tawny brings the situation to the attention of her fellow LBPD officers and Special Agent in Charge, Jiena Cofield. Her past experiences and all her training have made her more tough and determined. She’s ready to go undercover to solve the mystery of her friend’s death.

Standing by her side, ready to protect her, is the love of her life, LA SWAT officer Marcus Finnigan. He has faith in her ability to solve the case, but Finnigan worries that the longer Tawny stays inside the women’s prison, the likelier it is that her cover will be blown. Yet, all he can do is watch and help from a distance, though he’d rather be on the inside with her.

The corruption she’s investigating strikes the very heart of the justice system, and to bring down the Network, Tawny must put her life on the line. And Finnigan must let her.
