Ann Turnbull is a highly-regarded author of books for children and young adults and has been shortlisted for several major awards, including the Guardian and Whitbread awards. She writes across a range of genres, but her main interests are history and folk tales. Her novels combine accurate historical detail with an accessible style and realistic characters with whom young readers can easily identify. Although many of her books involve dramatic events, it is emotional dilemmas that lie at the heart of her stories.
