The Shadow and the Star

Jilted just before her wedding, Mary Ellis escapes to the fishng village of Easthaven as headmistress of the little school. She soon finds that she had exchanged one set of troubles for another.The fisher folk of Easthaven are a closely knit community, reluctant to accept strangers - especially the autocratic squire, Commander Max Fraser. Mary gradually learns tolerance and understanding, and finds deep and lasting love too.
