Brian Thiem had an illustrious twenty-five year career with the Oakland Police Department. He worked a variety of positions from patrol, special operations, vice narcotics, and homicide to commanding units such as special operations (SWAT) and Homicide as a lieutenant.
Thiem also retired from the Army with twenty-eight years of service and is a veteran of the Iraq War, serving in a variety of military police and investigation units.
After retirement he was an adjunct professor of criminal justice, a security consultant, and he completed a Masters of Fine Arts program. He currently lives and writes in Connecticut and is a member of the Mystery Writers of America.
