His confidential secretary is Vera J. Corringe, M.A. from Oxford. Hugo Bishop first appeared in KNIGHT SINISTER (1951), which was followed by other works involving chess, including BISHOP IN CHECK (1953) and QUEEN IN DANGER (1952)
