David "Possum" Porter has a relationship problem. His bosses at the CIA keep handing him missions that seem impossible to complete and could lead to prison or death. They also think he is crazy. He hears voices.

All David wants is to serve his country and live peaceably on his ranch in Texas. But a missile attack takes out a Coast Guard cutter in the Gulf of Mexico, and the CIA is forced to call on what they see as their worst agent for help. The clues to the loss of the cutter are slim, a radio message mentioning a ship lost in World War II and a body washing up on a Texas barrier island over sixty years ago.

David follows the clues and discovers a mysterious "ghost ship" that appears in fog in a place where no ocean-going ship should be. A nearby Texas coastal town discourages talk of the "ghost" despite local sightings. As David discovers threads of the truth, the hidden enemy plots the murder of thousands. He races against time to disrupt the multiple threats. David has allies, but who can he trust among those who appear to help? With the assistance of an alien named Clyde in his head, David pushes ahead.

If you enjoy twist-and-turn tales of danger, intrigue, and shadowy enemies, you will love this conspiracy thriller from James Glenn Thompson.
