It wasn’t worth the hassle of anyone finding out my secret

Guttertown is the filthy underbelly of Nestran. Everyone knows everyone’s secrets, but they don’t know mine.
Being the bastard daughter of
the most powerful Baron in Nestran won’t end well for me. They’ve managed to keep kings and queens who can set things on fire with their minds under their control since the war. Like, I have much of a chance against them if I ever announced myself as his daughter and asked for help.

Which is why my mother raised me as a boy. Even
I thought I was a boy until my period started at ten and I thought I was dying. She told me why she lied. If I ever needed help from my father, he was going to require me to pay him back by working at the brothels.

I’ve kept up the ruse, but it’s a lot more complicated now. I had four best friends when I thought I was a boy. I’m still close with them, but I’m desperately in love with three of them and the fourth is now my mortal enemy. Not like I can do much about any of that except keep hating Neco.

Except my mom has a cough and my father would have the best healers if it’s serious. She’d forbid me from asking, but shes my world.

If I have to play his soldier, I will. I’m just not thinking about what will happen if he finds out I’m his daughter, not his son.
