BOOK 1
Emma Floyd is a bestselling mystery novelist. When she gets caught up in a strange true-crime case for research, she wonders if she can finish the book and survive the dangers of the case at the same time.
Stuck in a writing slump, Emma Floyd is desperate to get any inspiration that will come her way. Emma thinks she may just have a lead on her next bestseller with news of an unidentified corpse and an impromptu visit to the coroner’s office. When she arrives, Emma uncovers that the victim has been long dead; and possibly another victim of the local strangler.
When Emma heads to the library to find research material, she is met with another mystery; some of the books have disappeared with no trace.
Emma believed her skills in solving crime to be fictional, saved only for her pages, but as the clues come together, Emma finds her life in danger and wonders what mess she has stepped into.
BOOK 2
When Emma Floyd, the well-known mystery writer, begins to look into the unidentified victims of the strangler, she learns some hard truths. She learns that her family is tangentially involved, and she worries about the impact of her investigation on those who are her nearest and dearest.
Hoping to keep the investigation at arm’s length from her family, starts to look into the missing leatherbound editions of the articles regarding the strangler. She quickly uncovers an unpleasant truth, one that the police should have easily uncovered.
Her investigation leads her to learn the name of one of the victims and to question the identity of another. The twists and turns come fast as she tries to learn the truth, but at the same time, an unhappy killer feels she’s getting too close.
BOOK 3
As Emma gets closer to Tim Stewart, she’s hit with two problems. The first is that she a part of an investigation that has uncovered additional victims of the strangler. The serial killers crimes go far deeper than originally suspected.
The second is that Tim’s boss played a far greater role in Emma’s aunt’s life than the sheriff let on. His deceit makes Emma wonder how much she can trust law enforcement – and Tim – as she gets closer to a situation that will prove dangerous to her and her family.

The situation frustrates her as she wants to learn the fate of the baby Patty was carrying at the time of her disappearance. However, Emma is not the only person disturbed by events.
