A Story by

"Home Movies" is one of sixteen original stories published in 2006 in BALTIMORE NOIR, part of Akashic Books's award-winning series of original noir anthologies, each one set in a distinct neighborhood or location within the city of the book.

"To live in Baltimore - Bulletmore, Murderland, according to one famous piece of graffiti - is to be aware of killing," Laura Lippman says in her introduction to BALTIMORE NOIR. "The writers in this collection eschew nostalgia without sacrificing affection. They confront the full irony that is Charm City, a place where you can go from the leafy beauty of the North Side neighborhoods to the gutted ghettos of the West Side in less than twenty minutes, then find your way to the revamped Inner Harbor in another ten."

About her story, Marcia said, "I've been sailing the Chesapeake Bay since I moved to Baltimore in the mid-sixties. Even after my husband and I moved to Annapolis, Baltimore's Inner Harbour was never more than a day sail away. We'd anchor our antique sailboat just off the Domino Sugars sign, walk the bricks of Harbourplace, visit the National Aquarium and then wander over to Little Italy for dinner. When Laura invited me to contribute to this series, the idea of setting a story in two of my favorite Baltimore neighborhoods was irresistible."

Marcia Talley's Agatha and Anthony award-winning short stories have appeared in more than a dozen collections, including anthologies edited by New York Times best-selling authors Lawrence Block, Elizabeth George, Laura Lippman, and Anne Perry. They have been selected for inclusion in "The World's Finest Mystery and Crime Stories" and "The Deadly Bride and 21 of the Year's Finest Crime and Mystery Stories," edited by Ed Gorman and Martin H. Greenberg.

Marcia Talley is the author of ALL THINGS UNDYING and eight previous mystery novels featuring survivor and sleuth, Hannah Ives. Hannah's tenth adventure, A QUIET DEATH, will be published in the summer of 2011 by Severn House.
