You are ready, Scathach. You are ready to commence your journey and go in search of your destiny and let us pray to the gods that you will find yourself along the road.

A babe found in a casket in the open sea was fostered by the druidess Buimech and the great warrior Eola and given the name Scathach...

Years later, her adopted father is murdered and this sets Scathach on a journey to discover her mysterious past.

Led only by the triskele symbol carved on the casket she was found floating in and the medallion given to her by Buimech, Scathach journeys out of Eireann to find her father's murderers, who also bore the strange triskele symbol on their armor.

The capable warrioress meets up with Flann Mac Fraech, a hotheaded young warrior banished from his clan by an evil tyrant, and Ruacan the Wizened, a wise druid who will guide her along her quest. She begins to amass ancient weapons, blessed by the gods and bestowed by quest-fulfilment, and moves toward Lethra, where the triskele symbol is rumoured to reign.

The dangerous land of Lethra and its mysterious ruler, the High One, hold answers to Scathach's past, yet are shrouded in rumor of danger and strange dealings.

The small band presses on to find what terrible battles await them at the end of the journey...

Island of Shadows is a rip-roaring adventure with brave warriors and fierce leading ladies steeped in Irish legend and tradition spun by master storyteller Peter Tremayne.
