Rosa and her mother move into a big house far from civilization. Her only friends are the roses, the statues in the garden, and the raven that brings her gifts. But the house isnt the safe haven its promised to be. There are wolves in the forest, a hidden graveyard, and a watchmaker residing in the house within the house. There are secrets in every room and around every corner.
In an richly textured, old-style gothic tale, Rosa grows up in this house, her only company her mother and her uncles, of which there are many. Birthdays are the only time music is allowed to be played in the house, but sometimes she hears echoes of a piano. The roses in the garden grow black. The danger is closer than it seems.
