At seventeen, Bailey West and Landon Travis are already madly in love. They have both been raised in church, but have not been taught salvation through Christ. They believe that being a good person is enough. Due to parental disapproval, they run away and are married in Mississippi. Bailey becomes an aspiring singer and despite having to evade her parents, they are very happy. However, her parents find them and force her to leave while Landon is at work. They force her to sign divorce papers and she soon discovers she is pregnant. She gives birth to a son, Brandon, only to be tricked into signing adoption papers.
