Murphy Cooper doesn't want to die - at least not again. Once was more than enough, especially considering she left earth before she ever got a chance to do any of the good stuff. But being a feisty, disembodied lesbian means that Murphy's afterlife is never easy and rarely fun.
So when the Death Committee said that maybe they would give her another chance down there on the globe, she jumped at it. Which means now she's got a job, ugh, and a fancy new name: Umbra Mortis, Death Collector extraordinaire.
It's up to her to guide souls to the light and to convince the dead that they've actually hit the bricks and to leave the living alone. Some ghosts are pathetic, miserable hags, others are angry, and some are so f'd up Murphy doesn't even know where to begin. And it probably doesn't help that she's got a short-fuse when it comes to entitled d-bag ghosty-things.
