A novel by

Bluebury, New Jersey, is a town that should have no mysteries. But there was a stationery store that did not sell any stationery! Bessie Hightower decided to investigate and found everyone in Louie's Luncheonette stared at her suspiciously after she began.

She took matters into her own hands and discovered the Mob-controlled numbers racket was going on all over town and no one was doing anything to stop it. She was out to discover the identity of the bagman who collected the bets and to crack the racket in her town—even if it meant taking on the Mob alone. Of course she got tangled up in more trouble than even she could have imagined.
