In Book One: When Lucas Poteet accused Chance Reynolds of cheating at cards, he had no idea what would come after that. Following surviving a duel with Reynolds, he was approached by a beautiful woman, Eva Massengale. She wanted him to help her find her sister in New Mexico.
With gold involved, along with a beautiful woman, how could Lucas say no? The fact that he was hunted by Reynolds’ three brothers also helped.
What he didn’t know was others were also after the gold in question. Who would find it first? And what would happen then? With gold fever, no one could tell.
In Book Two: On the ranch for about six months, Lucas faces hostility from the two hired hands and discovers a woman and her son living in a remote cabin on his property. Who were they? What were they doing in such an out-of-the-way place?
As he deals with this and the approaching winter, a young woman arrives in Santa Fe, saying she’s the daughter of Ellis Conroy, Lucas’ cousin who tried to kill him and take the ranch. She begins making friends in Santa Fe and asking about the legality of the Spanish land grant that formed the basis of the ranch.
At the same time, Boone Jenkins escapes from a prison wagon and sets out with his gang to find the deputy sheriff who put him there. This puts the gang right on the trail to run across Lucas. What follows is betrayal and gunfire.
In Book Three: Lucas Poteet hadn’t had very good luck with young women. But he found another one coming into his life. This one was a distant cousin, looking for her brother who came West looking for gold.
Would this young woman prove to be different from the others? Or would she lead Lucas to more danger than he could handle?
And what about the gold? Gold has a way of changing men, not always for the better.
Hopefully, Lucas would survive this Dangerous Ride.
