The selections in this book are wonderful. The book is a compilation of stories written by Newbery Award winning authors. Stories included in this edition include¾"Lone Cowboy," "Every Chihuahua in America Lines up to take a Bite out of Byron," "Poor Little Saturday," "The Hunter," "The Stagman," "Unexpected Visitors," and "The Calabash Man." Each selection is unique, and each is chosen for the quality of writing. By reading all of the selections, a reader can find himself looking at a cattle round-up, a snowstorm in Alaska, or even in an imaginary kingdom to rescue a poor princess. The book is just as one might expect¾excellently written, interesting stories and short selections to give the reader a taste of the author's style of writing. The book also contains an explanation of the Newbery medal, bibliographies of all of the included authors and a list of the Newbery medal winners and honor books through the years.
