A novel by

A spymaster, a former slave, and a betrayal that could save them both.

Shaza of Ilios has a problem. As the spymaster of a deposed ruler, he finds himself taken captive by his own former prisoner, Breida. He expects a slow and painful death, but Breida goes out of her way to keep him alive and even protected.

Back among Breida's nomadic people, Shaza soon realizes he's not the only one trapped. Breida is forced into a political marriage and it seems Shaza is the only one interested in saving her.

Shaza begins to plot against Breida's new husband, but as with everything in Shaza's life, matters become complicated. Not only must he deal with his growing feelings for Breida, but his actions have caught the attention of creatures beyond the mortal realm.

The gods themselves have taken an interest in Shaza, and he knows nothing good will come of that.
