They all called him Bracken because they couldn't pronounce his Romany name and as his mother said "He was born in the bracken, so why not?" Now Bracken has grown up and almost fulfilled his dream of becoming a vet. In his last year of study, he goes back to running his own wildlife sanctuary and meets Sabrina, a young doctor, but she is afraid of serious commitment. Bracken returns to finish his vet's course and tells Sabrina to "look for him in the springtime." But events take a disastrous course and Sabrina finds out where her true feelings lie.
