My Cry for Mercy
(2022)(The first book in the Chalet on Barco Bay series)
A Novella by Everlee Whitman
I think when the right person comes along, no matter your age or how busy…it just works.
"The Chalet" is a Christian, rural, coastal resort community where middle to older age adults go to support several summer volunteer projects. These projects include building and improving housing for the needy and serving through the community’s action agencies. Those who volunteer, support each other's spouse losses and other challenges as they work to help the community. Romantic relationships are developed as those who stay become long-standing friends and soon-to-be lovers.
Cameron is flailing and when he finds a reminder of Barco Bay in his son's belongings, he arrives in town without any expectations for healing. When he is assigned with Lenore to help an old couple sift through their home, the process breaks open old wounds. As they help the older couple, they begin to talk about their own tragedies and faith journeys, moving them in new directions they never expected.
Lenore can empathize with the pain rolling off Cameron when he gets to the Chalet. She is normally a solitary worker in the community’s give-back projects, so she is taken aback when she is now paired with him. Helping the older couple to move toward their next chapter might be the beginning of Lenore’s and Cameron’s new life chapters. Can these two wonderful people truly find hope to mend their broken hearts?
As Cameron's time ends at Barco Bay, he cannot leave Lenore easily, but neither might yet be strong enough for a fresh path forward. Maybe healing is a journey best taken with a partner, and faith is the only glue that holds these tattered hearts together.
The Chalet on Barco Bay series is based upon Psalm 140 6-8 (NIV). "My Cry for Mercy," is the first book in this six-book series. Download this clean romance book to make you feel good about yourself and your world.
