After helping the man who was like an older to him to make a decision about Ezra, the other teen he took under his wing, young Alasdair comes back to The Base. With every day that passes, he comes to see the place as what it really is: a safe haven for the survivors of unspeakable horrors and a home for him.

The man who runs it, known only as Ardan, is no longer seen by Alasdair as a cold-blooded killer, but as a kind soul, his most ardent supporter, who always encourages him to study and become the best version of himself. His protector is a mystery for the youth, who wants to take a peek and see what’s beyond the seemingly impenetrable wall Ardan surrounded his heart with.

For over a decade, the only thing Ardan thought about was revenge; the budding feelings he has for Alasdair, the red-haired boy with a brilliant mind and a caring heart, scare the otherwise courageous man. He plans to send the young man to live with his relatives, the powerful, rich, and influent Stark family, but, after being confronted by Alasdair, he decides to let him stay at The Base.

The redhead manages to completely win Ardans trust, but, just when the two of them get closer than ever, Alasdair’s world comes crashing down after seeing the man of his dreams about to get intimate with another youth. Heartbroken, he’ll run away, before Ardan realizes and has a chance to explain his actions. Is it too late for the two to have a fresh start?
