Was it really too much to ask to be left alone? As a recluse in a brand new town, my plans consisted of staying tucked away in my office, writing… alone. Then my brother has to go and bail on Thanksgiving and demand a favor of me on top of it. Did I mention we are twins? Identical at that. I did NOT sign up to run a parent trap scheme at one of the best restaurants in my new town over the holiday. He owes me. Big.
But maybe his scheming will pay off in ways neither of us could have expected. Just when I think this plan can’t get any worse, I find myself trapped on the sidewalk in front of the restaurant, getting yelled at by the feisty, slightly terrifying, and absolutely beautiful chef. All I wanted was to spend the holiday with my brother, but something tells me spending Thanksgiving with this woman might just be the best mistake I’ve ever made.

I’ve trained with some of the best chefs, paid my dues in some of the best restaurants, so why am I freaking out over one critique? Could it be the fact it’s coming from one of the world’s most well-known and respected critics? Possibly. Could it also be because the man dares to show up, barely taste my food, and then leave without another glance… all while looking entirely more attractive than any man has a right to be. Absolutely yes.
Who would have guessed I would find myself yelling at him on the sidewalk one minute and then demanding he shows up to my family’s Thanksgiving meal the next. This could either be my chance to prove myself and redeem my food… or the worst idea anyone has ever had. But maybe, just maybe, it could be the best mistake I’ve ever let myself make.
