Joanna Warrington

Joanna Warrington is a former secondary school teacher. From her home in West Sussex she runs an airbnb and when she's not making beds and chatting to guests she can be found in the local cafes writing her novels - contemporary women's fiction.

Joanna is the author of ten novels. Her books deal with all the D words in the dictionary: disappointment, dysfunction, divorce, dating, dementia, disability, discovery. Her latest novel, 'Every Daughter's Fear' in the series 'Every Parents' Fear' is published in Autumn 2023. This series is a story centred on the thalidomide scandal and was inspired by Joanna's work with a thalidomide survivor.

Joanna is passionate about political and social issues and her degree is in History and Sociology. Her books are thought-provoking and she loves to weave historical events of the 20th and 21st Century into her writing and challenge readers' thoughts. Her characters face challenges in adversity, from dating in the lockdown to the long-term impact of growing up in an institution, to the forays of family travel.

Joanna's books deal with human emotion and are often set in places she knows well or places she has travelled to. 'Don't Blame Me', set in Penshurst, Kent where she grew up. 'Slippers On A First Date', Seaford and Eastbourne, 'Holiday', Salt Lake City and Las Vegas, 'A Time To Reflect', Massachusetts.

Most of Joanna's books include a story about a birth and the joy of motherhood. Maybe this is because her own experiences have continued to haunt her. Joanna's writing began as a cathartic, healing exercise following the trauma of losing her first baby at 5 months of age––the child had multiple abnormalities. Joanna now has three grown up children and a lovely little granddaughter who she'd dearly love to see more of.
