A dangerous love affair set in World War II
It is the winter of 1944. Bill Gladwin, a rear gunner from Wales, is on the final flight of his second tour of duty when his plane is shot down over occupied France. He is discovered and taken in by a tall, enigmatic Frenchman and his young, enchanting wife. Hidden behind barrels in their cellar, he hides from the Gestapo, and plans his escape.
But Gladwin has the oddest feeling that he’s met the Frenchman’s wife, Marie, before. He soon finds himself drawn, irresistibly, to her – against his better judgement, and in spite of the wife and baby daughter that are waiting for him back home. They start a passionate love affair, and Marie reveals to him the secret of their deep connection. Then Gladwin must leave, in the company of his cowardly pilot, Proctor, to embark on the long, dangerous journey back to England. Will he make it safely back home, and will he ever see Marie again?
