As the Ace of Spades embark on more high profile and treacherous missions, the group encounters internal and external threats. Demon’s loyalty to the revolutionaries is torn when Zahra is directly targeted.

“You right. What we did in them woods ain’t just about killing. It’s about what they used to do to us. For every man the KKK lynched, they could’a just shot him dead and kept it moving. But that wasn’t their M.O. They chose to string ‘em up and make a spectacle out of it. They was proud of it. They wanted people to see what happens when you step out of line. They took their hoods off and posed for pictures with the bodies. And what do you think they did with those pictures?”
Zahra had no idea.
“They made postcards out of ‘em,” Demon told her. “They was passing around racist postcards of dead black people like they was baseball cards, collecting souvenirs of our dead ancestors. I’m doing the same thing to them as they did to us. My video is an updated version of their postcards. Everybody with a cellphone is invited to our lynching party. But you think I went too far?”
“I didn’t say that, David.” In his eyes, she saw resilience as cold as steel. “I, I don’t know…”
“Never forget what our true goal is,” he said. “At the core, our group was created to let these people know that anything they do or have done to us can get done right back to them. The people we going after have a choice. They choose to join racist groups and plot attacks against our people. If that’s the path they wanna go down, then they need to know that retaliation is likely, and retaliation can look like whatever we want it to. They think going to prison is the worst that can happen to them – or getting shot by the police and becoming a martyr for their cause.”
He shook his head. “Nah. It’s a lot worse things that can happen to them. We proved that tonight. When they see this video, they gon’ get another opportunity to choose their path. I’m not taking the high road against people who have done my people wrong for centuries. Fuck ‘em. Fuck ‘em all. They gon’ get what’s coming to ‘em, and they deserve every bit of it. Nine bodies don’t make a dent in the numbers they put up against us – not even close. Anybody who think I went too far need to pick up a fucking book and do the math.”
