When all the banks are going belly-up, where do you get a loan? Especially if you're an Eastern European nation trying to make sense of capitalism while going dead broke? Woods Palmer suspects the Vatican's playing banker, not with its own sacred cash, but the billions it launders for the mafia. He thinks his old Chicago school chum, Teddy Radziwill, is the archbishop masterminding a strategy that could make the Pope a modern saint if it wasn't too tainted with the deadly sin of profit for real beatification.
