Death is a part of life. Sophie Berkeley has had no exceptions. Usually though, with death comes a flood of loved ones to comfort and console, which allow healing. Sophie never had that. Instead, she's been wading through life as though in a dream, existing not living. On her twenty-eighth birthday, she has her first of many awakenings, when she finds her husband David in bed with another woman. This awakening gives Sophie the courage she needs to make changes. With the help of her only friend, Rina, she steps out of her mundane existence and finds a job as an Art teacher in the beautiful Rocky Mountains. Her first day at Sacred Heart she is introduced to Phillip Hansen, the school Theater Director. This introduction produces another awakening, one within her heart. During the next few months Sophie realizes that while living is more difficult than just existing, the good far outweigh the bad. This knowledge allows her to discover real love, overcome her fears and find renewal. Her one worry? Will she survive to see the results of her efforts at living or will David and his secrets destroy everything she's worked so hard for?
