A parish priest walks out into the sea one morning, and his death must be investigated by the Justice of the Peace, Sir Guy de Haghe. All is not as it seems in the coast town of Ravenser Odd, people go missing, the seas encroach and underlying the Justice’s investigation is the suggestion of mendacity, inheritance corruption and ungodly practices. The Town Elders want this matter cleared up and the Justice sent on his way, but Sir Guy is drawn into a world of old Norse mythology, the quest for justice and foul deeds and weather.
