When Ron Chadwick retired from the police force, his wife Sarah was hoping that he would run the family antique business, Bygones, especially as she had just been offered the post of wardrobe mistress for the local drama group. She was dismayed when he announced that he intended to go to Romania for a year, to work for a charity. Fortunately their daughter Kerry, escaping a disastrous love affair, agreed to come and run Bygones, so that Sarah could take up her dream job, but Ron and Sarah were to find that when living the single life, a year is a long time...
