Sage Kennedy is beginning a new position as Deputy Chief of Communications for the newly-elected governor of Georgia. She is a woman of commitment, passion, and vision—and no one understands this beautiful and desirable woman more than her fiancé Ramion Sandidge.

Ramion is an ambitious attorney with dreams to launch his own law firm and pursue other high-profile positions. Sage and Ramion are crazy-in-love and deeply committed to each other, but face obstacles that challenge their relationship. Ramion introduces Sage to his close-knit family, and it is very obvious that they did not approve of his previous girlfriend. When Ramion strategizes to become a state representative, he must contend with his vindictive ex-girlfriend determined to destroy him, along with family obligations.

Sage's younger half-sister, Ava Hicks suddenly moves to Atlanta. A week later, Ava is working for Sage and becomes part of the Atlanta party scene. Only 23, she is still figuring out what she wants to do with her life, and this is an opportunity for Ava to get to know her big sister. Sage adores her baby sister and refuses to reveal why she left home when Ava was very young. Sage embraces her bright future, yet she is pulled into the dark past. The death of a family member compels Sage to return home after a ten-year absence.

Sage is drawn into an emotional storm that forces her to confront buried memories and family secrets. She remembers her father painting beautiful art when she was a little girl and how his death dramatically changed her life. Opening the door to her complicated past brings a swirl of tumultuous emotions, a mystery surrounding her father's death, and a shocking revelation that connects Sage's past to the present and ushers in a whirlwind of life changes.
