James’s plan to break out is thwarted when Kowolski has him shipped to New York for a new assignment. Before the assignment, Kowolski shows James what the L’homber intends to do to the world. He shows him the underground city they have built and tells him how they intend to employ eugenics to populate it.
Veronica and Beric do not get into a fight with the men who have their guns pointed at them outside the tent. Instead, the group leader leads them to the city the L’homber has built under the mountains. The man asks them to come help get rid of the L’homber, but during the discussion, Beric realizes an important point they’ve all been played by the L’homber from the start, and they going after the L’homber was all part of the plan. After they leave the mountain, they listen to the rest of Vlahovic's tape, and he directs them to New York. In Spain, Veronica finds Felix, who is housed at a hospice but she is attacked in the hospice.
