When Josh Schneider and Chloe Jacobs, along with her K-9 Poirot, get called to a small town in southwestern Virginia on a search and rescue mission for a missing member of the town council, the search goes terribly wrong, and they find the missing person horrifically murdered. The press shows up sniffing out a story, but it's not just any reporter sticking her nose into the middle of things--it's Josh's ex-girlfriend.
As Josh and Chloe wrestle with the trauma of finding the missing person as they did, they also have to face accusations that their relationship is moving too fast. But another person ends up missing, and everyone questions whether there's a serial killer in town?
