A brand new Western adventure from Paul Bedford!
Chris Weaver and Alice Turner arrive in San Francisco with a fortune in gold, stolen from the Ladd & Tilton Bank in Portland. In a booming metropolis, where no one knows them, the future looks bright, except for one small problem. The City by the Bay just happens to be connected to Oregon by a modern electric telegraph line that bodes ill for anyone hoping to remain hidden. It is also a fact that Weaver has never possessed great wealth before, and so does not realise just how difficult it can be to protect it from others. Bayside thugs turn out to be the least of their problems, because before long the two fugitives find themselves pursued by local peace officers, Wells Fargo Agents and even the U.S. Army.
Their prospects take a terrifying turn for the worse, when they are imprisoned on Alcatraz Island, with Alice being the only female inmate in a guardhouse full of brutalised men. Even in 1862, the island is known to be escape proof, and it is intended by those now in possession of their gold that they should remain there until they rot. Chris Weaver has got out of tight spots before, but this is something altogether different!
