With the Civil War raging far away to the east, folks in distant Oregon feel themselves safe from the conflict. Sadly they are about to find out that nowhere is out of harm’s way. Returning from a bloody trail of vengeance, disgraced lawman Chris Weaver discovers that big trouble has come to Oregon City in the form of Confederate raiders calling themselves The Knights Of The Golden Circle. A lot of nonsense to be sure, but by burning out settlers in the upper Willamette Valley, and even hacking some to death with fearsome broadswords, they are spreading terror across the land. But then, to Weaver’s embittered viewpoint, they do something far more unforgivable that can only be redeemed in blood. And he gets his chance when the Rebel marauders decide to strike at Portland’s only bank, to steal a fortune in gold coins.
