When the town librarian is an avid mystery and true-crime reader, the local law enforcement must need a book-smart assistant like her, right?

Fall in New England is one of the most beautiful times of the year. With October well upon her, Rebecca looks to join a local group called the Bristol Witches. There are no spooky incantations, broomsticks nor potions to be heard, seen or tasted, just a group of women who enjoy making others smile. This year, their annual paddleboard event on Newfound Lake is set to launch any day, and Rebecca wants to bring her friend, Karen, along for the ride.

When one witch doesn't seem to have made it on the foggy morning excursion, the entire troupe starts to ask questions. Once everyone realizes it is too late for a positive resolution to the disappearance, they start to look within the group for answers.

Will Rebecca and her closest friends be able to charm their way into the good graces of the coven, or will she find they chose the wrong side to butter their bread?
