Too Many Crooks Spoil the Soup
(2024)(Book 16 in the Newfound Lake Cozy Mystery series)
A Story by Virginia K Bennett
When the town librarian is an avid mystery and true-crime reader, the local law enforcement must need a book-smart assistant like her, right?
Nothing ushers in fall like school starting, temperatures cooling and Labor Day Weekend. As the last of the summer tourists pull their boats out of Newfound Lake and close up their beachside cabins, the town is celebrating the grand opening of a new art space, Euphoria. Librarian Rebecca Ramsey and her fianc, Chief Kenny Towne, are meeting up with some of the library volunteers for a night out before the non-summer routines settle in. A paint and sip date sounds like just the way to enjoy each others company on a Friday night.
The gathering goes off without a hitch, which seems suspicious to the crime-solving duo. They let their guard down about twenty-four hours too early when a death that shows no signs of foul play is discovered. Its Rebeccas gut that tells her theres a connection to the group of friends who sat behind her the previous night.
With the police lacking evidence to initiate an investigation, will this death get brushed under the proverbial rug, or will Rebeccas colorful approach lead to a creative result?
Genre: Cozy Mystery
