The Toff and the Runaway Bride

(1959)
(Book 41 in the Toff series)
A novel by

It reads a bit like a hard boiled version of a Jeeves and Wooster story. The Toff is a likeable character with some strange ways to waste his income - embroidered waistcoats and a Rolls Bentley he enjoys passing Jag and Bristol owners in at over 100. The cover is misleading as usual since there is no gratuitous nudity and very little description. In some ways it reads like a screenplay but as a Novel it could have been twice as thick and been better for it.
