Nichol's life with Jean had been perfect, so that when she died he found it difficult even to think of taking another wife. His friend Honey, however, had different ideas and had told him quite frankly that she admired him more than any man she knew, and fully intended to marry him one day. But neither of them had yet met Maggie, the attractive "witch", who was to burst into their lives with such devastating results. Timid and tragic, she soon twined herself around Nichol's heart-strings - and Honey began to realise that she had met her Waterloo.
