The Scarred Man

(1980)
A novel by

When John Craig rescued a girl from two would-be rapists, he inadvertently crossed swords with notorious villain Frank Martin, and the police were worried. Retribution was not swift, but it was terrible, and Craig emerged disfigured in more than his face. Vengeance became his constant companion, and he lived and planned nothing else. The police could not prosecute Martin, and had sympathy for Craig, but they had no intention of letting him seek his own retribution. He created a new identity to match his new appearance, and became a man outside society, the very instrument needed by a certain department of security for an unusually dirty job. Could he serve that purpose, and still achieve his own?
