Tall and thin, Ruth envies the golden femininity of her older sister, Janet, and the delicate wistfulness of her younger sister. Ruth tries to imitate Janet, even simulating her interest in a theatrical career, but in the end it becomes apparent to her that the source of her charms must lie within her own capacities.
