1845, Oregon Trail, Snake River to Oregon City
As two very different young ladies making the great journey along the Oregon Trail, Lilian and Rachel make unlikely friends.
Barely seventeen, Lilian is the spoiled daughter of a New York publisher setting up an affiliate branch in Oregon City.
Coming over from Ireland with her brother and cousins during the potato famine, twenty-year-old Rachel is as free spirited as they come.
But the girls have one big thing in common - they both love a certain pair of frontiersmen from Laramie.
The two frontiersmen, Scott Mercer and Bryon Clearwater also make unlikely friends.
Scott is a deputy marshal intent on law and order; Bryon is a half Pawnee Indian trail guide who has agreed to protect the people traveling along the Oregon Trail, but what he won't do is track down outlaws. Much to Scott's chagrin.
The two frontiersmen do agree on one thing - don't become too involved with women from the wagon train.
BUT . . . Lilian and Rachel are out to change their minds.
Each experience over the past seven months brings the couples closer, but the real test is looming in front of them. As they struggle to overcome the physical obstacles of crossing the Snake River, then the vicious path through the Blue Mountains, each couple realizes they are at a crossroads.
Will the two frontiersmen be ready to settle down at the end of the journey? Or will their life of being on the move call them back to the trail . . .
AUTHOR'S NOTE: This 120-page Oregon Trail Romance is filled with dreams for a better future. The characters who travel this long trail become humbled by the hardships they encounter. They form true, lasting friendships that will last a lifetime and fall in love along the way, breaking down all barriers of social classes.
This is book 5 of the Love on the Trails series and is much better if you've already read books 1-4.
All of the Love on the Trails books are PG rated with plenty of adventure, romance, hardships, and good times.
