A Story by

The conquistadors came looking for gold. They found death instead.

When Lope makes it back to the ship with a ragged handful of soldiers and they leave the nameless island behind, he thinks he's escaped.

He's wrong.

A shaman on the island has put a terrible curse on the fleeing men. When the first soldier succumbs to his wounds, his corpse rises to strike down another man. Now there are two of the undead, and they turn on the rest of the crew. In the open ocean, with no land in sight, there is nowhere to flee as the tide of a desperate battle slowly turns against the survivors.

As the circle of survivors grows smaller and smaller, and Lope takes a wound, he realizes the horrifying truth. He cannot trust his comrades. Even his own cousin may become one of the undead. And if they realize just how bad his wound is, the other survivors may not wait for Lope to die...
