A novel by

The first book in a new series involving some old friends: Ray Kowalski, Bronwyn, Jerry Kowalski, Joe Larkin and Bee (Abigail) Tattersall. Ray and new investigator - Sally Hackett - take on the case of a boy who died of typhus in the Warsaw Ghetto in 1943, but a woman finds a photograph of him in her mother's possessions dated 1946. They travel to Warsaw and Leipzig to discover the terrible truth, but the Germans are shadowing them.

Bronwyn is on an all-expenses paid trip to British Columbia in Canada to play with a quantum computer at Q-Bit and then get the scars from the gunshot entry and exit wounds on her torso tidied up. However, during the flight she befriends a Canadian First Nation woman called Sunshine Williams and they swap details. Sunshine lives six hundred miles away and due to poor transport links decides to hitchhike along Highway 16 - the Highway of Tears, where a thousand women and girls have gone missing over fifty years. Bronwyn has to do something, but what? And then the FBI want something from her.

Jerry, Joe and Bee's end of a barter swap deal is to investigate the death of Prometheus's girlfriend, but Prometheus doesn't turn up to the arranged meeting to show them the evidence he has of her murder. They discover that Prometheus's real name is Peter Dunwoody, and that his girlfriend was Bunny Hill-Ferguson - the daughter of Jerry's mentor at the chambers in Lincoln's Inn. Carol Hill-Ferguson (Gollum), gives them a week to find out the truth behind her daughter's fall from a third floor balcony at a party, which the police concluded was a tragic accident. It soon becomes clear that there's a lot more to Bunny's death, but proving it is another matter.
