Cliff Farrell was born in Zanesville, Ohio, the birthplace of Zane Grey. Following graduation from high school, Farrell became a newspaper reporter. His first Western stories were written for Cowboy Stories in 1926. Follow the New Grass, published in 1954, was his first Western novel.
