Konnie Mack and her father shared a deep love of baseball. When he died, she stopped playing the game. Now Konnie is a twenty-one-year-old with a bad attitude. Trouble is, it's illegal to get mad in Joyville. When she loses her temper one too many times, the judge gives her a choice for punishment. She can go to jail, or she can coach the kids' baseball team. She chooses jail. Konnie eventually comes to her senses and grudgingly agrees to coach a bunch of clueless kids who have never even seen a baseball. Those eager yet knuckleheaded kids help Konnie rediscover her love of baseball, and she finds coaching a wonderful way to honor her father's memory. The players, including the likes of Clueless Joe Jackson, Yoyo Beara, and Joltin' Joanna, can hardly remember the rules of baseball, let alone score any runs. If Konnie can't get them to win, she'll face the worst punishment imaginable...a lifetime ban from baseball.
