Long ago, the individual Gods gifted each of their chosen people with a portion of their power. The Gods used their chosen people to war with each other instead of interferring directly. Chief amongst these Gods were Aernus, God of the Sky. Eventually, all other Gods teamed up and directly intervened along with their chosen and warred with Aernus and his chosen. In the final battle, Aernus was able to banish himself and the others Gods permanently away from the land of men. Before Aernus did this, he led his people to a special place on the top of the highest mountain. For hundreds of years his people exiled themselves there, in a city they called Aerlin, alone and away from the others until recently. Sixteen year old Aiden is an Ayra, one of the lowest caste of people in the City of Aerlin. Because of his classification, he is deemed to be the most expendable person they can send into the world of what the people of Aerlin now called Heretics. The Aerlin have dreams of reconquering their lost lands but so much time had gone by that the people of Aerlin aren't even sure if the Heretics exist. Aiden will make the trek off of the mountain and find out once and for all if there are people at the bottom of the mountain.
